Support with Reports

Requesting a Report

The only way to request a report is from the Project Dashboard:

If there is only one Organization in the Project, you'll be asked to add a second before being able to complete the Report request process. Clicking the link or button above will take you to the screen below. You'll need to follow the link to invite a Member from another Organization:

Once you have at least two Organizations in the Project, you'll be allowed to continue with the request wizard. The first step is to pick the report types. Should you need a report not listed, please send an email to admin@thingsforwork.com and we'll look into adding it.

The second step is to choose the date range:

The third and final step is to choose another Organization in the Project that is reponsible for responding to your request:

After completing the wizard, an automated email will go out to all Members of the Project alerting them that there's a new request. The email notification will look like the following:

Subject: New notifications for Project Charlie

You have new notifications for Project Charlie:

   - User admin@thingsforwork.com requested a Profit and Loss report

   - User admin@thingsforwork.com requested a Cash Flow report

   - User admin@thingsforwork.com requested a Balance Sheet report

Canceling a Request

If you made a mistake when requesting Reports, you may cancel your requests one by one by clicking "Cancel Request" within the "More" dropdown box:

Note that this can be undone easily by submitting the identical request over again.

Approving a Report Request

Approving a Report request will grant access to those reports to all Project Members. Should you not want to grant access to those Reports (because the time range is too broad or the Report type is too detailed), see the next section about Rejecting a Report Request.

When you have outstanding Report requests, your Project dashboard will look something like this:

Simply click the "Approve" button next to a Report to grant access. If you don't have your accounting software connected, when you click the "Approve" button you'll be prompted to connect your software:

Follow the instructions on the Software Connections support page to complete the process.

After connecting your accounting software and approving Reports, an automated email will be sent to all Project Members alerting them of the changes. The email will look something like the following:

Viewing a Report

From the Project dashboard, click either the name of the Report or inside the "More" dropdown click "View Data":

Customize Report Time Period

By default, the time period for every Report extracted is one month. This is done to provide the most flexibility to users, who can combine Reports however they wish to create customized time periods. Reports may be combined either in the browser or in Excel post download. To customize the time period in the browser, simply use the dropdown boxes while in the Report view:

To customize the time period in Excel, you must first download the Reports as described in the next section.

Downloading a Report

You have two options when downloading Reports:

  1. Current time period as viewed in the browser
  2. Entire time period requested

Using the example below, choosing option #1 will download the YTD Reports as of September 2015 (January 2015-September 2015). Whereas choosing option #2 will download all Reports (October 2013-September 2015):

Deleting a Report

To delete a Report, click "Remove Report" from within the "More" dropdown box. Note that this cannot be undone without someone submitting the request over again and then approving it again.

After deleting Reports, an automated email will be sent to all Project Members alerting them of the changes. The email will look something like the following:

Subject: New notifications for Project Charlie
